Welcome to Every Buddy is Gold.

I’m so glad you’re here.

This blog arose from what I’ve learned while raising our third son, George, who was born with Down syndrome, life-threatening complications and a fighting spirit.

Because of Georgie, I had the privilege of joining forces with five other parents to organize a grassroots event on a parking lot—what would become the very first Buddy Walk for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. We had no major sponsors. Just determination. Since then, our walk has raised over $5 million and helped build the largest Down syndrome program in the country at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with a staff of 20 caring for over 2,700. Today, our annual walk is hosted at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles.

This blog began with my amazing son, George, but it belongs to every buddy.

Because Every Buddy is Gold, isn’t just the title of a book or a blog. It’s a truth. Every person with Down syndrome brings something valuable, something golden into the world. And every family, caregiver, sibling, teacher and friend has a story worth sharing.

Here we’ll celebrate those stories. If you have a story about the buddy in your life, I’d love to help suare it. Visit the Add Your Story page to learn how to submit.

Because Every Buddy is Gold. It’s what I’ve learned from George, and what I hope to pass on.

Thanks for reading. I hope you’ll stick around.

With love and hope,
Grace

I would love to year from you!
