Welcome to Every Buddy is Gold
I’m so glad you’re here.
This blog arose from what I’ve learned while raising our third son, George, who was born with Down syndrome, life-threatening complications, and a fighting spirit.
Because of Georgie, I had the privilege of joining forces with five other parents to organize a grassroots event on a parking lot—what became the first-ever Buddy Walk for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Since then, that walk has raised over $5 million and helped build the largest Down syndrome program in the country. Today, our annual walk is hosted at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles.
This blog began with my amazing son, George—but it belongs to every buddy.
Here I hope to share not only our story—but also the stories of others who know that every person with Down syndrome deserves respect, opportunity, and excellent care. Because every buddy is gold.
If you have a story about the buddy in your life—someone who’s brought light, strength, or unexpected joy—I’d love to help share it. Visit Share Your Story section to learn how to submit.
Whether you’re a fellow parent, an advocate, or someone who simply believes in the power of inclusion, I’m so glad you’re here.
With love and hope,
Grace
