About My Book

I am currently working to find a publisher for my memoir. Here is the story.

Every Buddy is Gold is my memoir about raising my third son, Georgie, who was born with Down syndrome and life-threatening complications. From the moment of his diagnosis—delivered bluntly, alongside offers of foster care—I came face-to-face with the harsh realities of medical bias.

After six surgeries and countless midnight emergencies, my perspective shifted dramatically when my husband was swiftly offered treatment for pneumonia—while similar care had been withheld from our son. That realization lit a fire.

This memoir traces my journey from bewildered mother to fierce advocate. Along the way, I helped launch one of the first Buddy Walks in the country, which raised over $5 million and helped establish the largest Down syndrome program in the U.S.—at the very hospital where our fight began.

At a time when disability rights are under renewed threat, Every Buddy is Gold is a timely reminder that community can triumph where systems fail, that ordinary parents can spark extraordinary change—and that every child, no matter their diagnosis, deserves compassionate, comprehensive care.
